Hey, this was fun, You can't really hear what I'm doing but maybe check it out anyways?
Thanks! Jacob H. Oh my, it's that time of the Summer season again! With back to school shopping and that forbidden date growing closer along with the hours of lost sleep that come with it. It's been a good summer, I'd say. Just this morning I played some Jazz at Terra Square in Hudsonville, Michigan. Before I start school I will have played 26 gigs since school got out, thinking that to myself feels good. Since school got out I won an award (and some prize money) for a 30 second PSA I made, I went on a few vacations, and ended up writing some tunes I'm very happy with. Also, I've probably practiced the most consistently I've ever practiced in my life thus far while there is (of course) room for improvement. I played some new venues to new crowds, to strangers, to friends. It's been good. I finished one songwriting journal and filled up another. While school is certainly, to a certain degree, a bummer, at least with it comes Jazz Orchestra and possibly some worship leading. But... also.. it's Junior year. So this should be quite interesting. Best of wishes and condolences to fellow students. We can survive. Oh, and try to enjoy a bit of it too.
Thanks Y'all. Jacob H. Hola Amigos! July has been a sweet month, and in this post I’d like to tell You a bit about it.
I spent the first week on July on vacation at Big Star Lake hanging out with family and celebrating the Fourth of July. Twas a great week. Right when I got home I was off to a rehearsal for worship leading I’d be doing the next day with friends who had been through the Awakening program at Hope College at First Reformed Church. A little over a week later I was at First Reformed Church leading worship again during the week for their Back Lot events. I also played there the Sunday following the Back Lot week. The day after that I went to work, and ran a few errands for I needed to pack for the blast that has been this week. Tuesday I left for Winding Creek Camp, where I’d be playing guitar with my amigo Jared and a few friends of His too. We (Jared & I) took what was left of Tuesday and most of Wednesday to set up a quite large sound and lights rig along with some smoke machines. Thursday night was show night. I ended up playing guitar for Jared (who was DJing under the name DJ Code) and a band that Jared brought out called Kleen Sl8 and another friend of Jared’s, Zay Marr, who’s a rapper. Twas a good night. Plus, the campers at Winding Creek Camp were really hype. Friday morning Jared, some staff members at camp and I led some worship. We also led some worship at night and then I went home. Anyways, it’s been a good month. Thanks for all Your support. I’m always working on new music that I can hardly wait to release. Love Y’all. Jacob H. Hi folks, it's been way too long. Let me tell You what I've been up to. So far this summer I have been practicing, recording and gigging, reading, and finally getting adequate sleep. Trying to make some serious progress as a guitarist, going to try and re-learn sight reading except this time on guitar instead of piano/french horn. I've been recording some songs that might not release for quite a long while. Like I said I've been gigging. Played guitar for Collision just last weekend at Their annual youth event, played some guitar live this morning at Terra Square in Hudsonville (MI) and that was fun. Also, I just started re-reading a book entitled Zen Guitar. Also have been really getting into walking because of this app called Sweatcoin. It's pretty sweet, You might want to try it out.
As far as plans for the near future are concerned tomorrow I head out to Hope College for a good 5 days of Awakening there. Should be fantastic. Very much looking forward to it. Ok, that was somewhat short. Feel free to come to a gig, You can find where I'll be playing on the page of this website titled 'Gigs' (go figure). See Y'all in the next post! Thanks! Jacob H. Hope You dig it! Thanks, Jacob H.
